I usually do a soup (since I'm not much of a baker). I did Ina Garten's Vegetable and Lentil soup. Love that recipe! One year I was really fancy and gave CI's creamless creamy tomato soup with a little container of pesto for an extra bit of goodness.

I always adapt this chocolate hazelnut tart recipe to fit a sheet pan, then cut into squares and put them in my neighbor goodie boxes: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chocolate-Hazelnut-Tart-231218

I also usually make the molasses cookies from America's Test Kitchen cookbook (the ones with the pepper in them), and a batch of sugar cookies that my kids decorate. I don't know that my neighbors jump for joy when they receive my box; there's nothing fancy... but in my humble opinion, it's all very good!

I am also lucky enough to be the recipient of a goodie box from my friend Michelle who is one of the most amazing cooks I know! Here is a blog post with her recipe for gingerbread caramels and I swear, you will think you've died and gone to heaven if you taste them! (Her white chocolate popcorn is pretty heavenly as well, but I don't think she posts the recipe for it on her blog. Let me know if you are interested; I'm sure she would be happy to share it)! http://sffoodiegirl.blogspot.com/2009/01/post-holiday-candy-chat.html

Merry Christmas, Becca!!!
